FAQ and troubleshooting

Short answers to the questions that come up most, and what each error message actually means.

Common questions

How do I upload files?

Use Upload files in My Drive, Create → Upload file in the sidebar, or drag files straight onto the file area. Single files can be up to 100 MB. See Uploading and managing files.

How does sharing work?

Open a file's menu and choose Share. Invite people by email as viewer, commenter, or editor, or publish a link anyone can open. See Sharing and permissions.

How is my storage counted?

The meter shows your combined NevTan storage — Drive files plus your NevTan Mail mailbox, as one total. See Storage and quota.

What is the “Email attachments” folder?

When you send a large attachment from NevTan Mail, the file is stored in that folder in your Drive and the email carries a share link to it.

How do I restore a deleted file?

Deleted items move to Trash, where you can restore them or delete them permanently. See Trash and restoring files.

Can I edit a file someone shared with me?

Only if they gave you Editor access and the file type has an editor. Viewers and commenters see Open but not Edit.

Does the person opening my link need an account?

No. A share link opens without signing in. Posting a comment does require a signed-in NevTan account.

Things to check first

  • A file list looks out of date — use Settings → Refresh Drive in the top bar.
  • An upload will not start — check the file is under 100 MB and that you have quota left.
  • Edit is missing from a file's menu — either the file type has no editor, or you do not have editor access.
  • Copy link says to turn on general access — the file has no public link yet. Open Share and switch Restricted to Anyone with the link.
  • A shared file will not download — the owner may have turned downloads off for that link.
